There's a reason military men love the tactical, anti-terrorist, third-person shooter SOCOM: its unparalleled realism makes them feel like they're on the battlefield when they're really just on the infirmary couch. This third incarnation sticks to the violent battle plan by adding even more twisted tweaks. Like Vince Vaughn since Swingers, the new areas of conflict—Poland, Morocco, and South Asia—are considerably larger than before. And while the single-player missions keep the game's rep intact, this battle is best fought online. Not only can the multiplayer modes handle twice as many men as before, but they've also added two new ways to play: the escort-a-truck-to-safety Convoy mode, and the protect-this-spot-at-all-costs Control Point mission. For gearheads, trick out your guns with laser sights and scopes, or run over the enemy in a Humvee that's been pimped out for the SEALs. (Major Dad DVDs not included.)
