The Club

Our normally low standards for entertainment tend to creep even lower during this time of year. Which means z-grade tripe like The Club winds up on the Maxim radar screen. Well, what do you know? This game is actually pretty fucking good. The premise: You're invited to join an underground organization of killers and miscreants who are challenged to run through an obstacle course filled with angry, well-armed bad guys. Yes, it's Running Man crossed with Street Fighting II, with a sprinkling of bacon bits on top. Crossing the finish line, and doing so while stringing kill-combos together, nets you the biggest points and bragging rights. No, this game won't magically increase the size of your penis by .004 inches, but it will distract you from your depressing, beer-addled life for a few short days. Which, in the end, is really all that any of us can ask for.
