The Gaming Review - Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep

Release Date:
Game Platform:
Xbox, PS3, PC
Star Rating:
10 out of 10

The Bunker Master you need AND deserve.

The Pitch: The fourth DLC pack for Borderlands 2 is also the biggest one we’ve seen so far. Assault on Dragon Keep brings entirely new enemy classes, weapon payloads, and a Crumpocalypse of tiny (Tina) proportions.

What It Really Is: Tiny Tina is easily our favorite character in the entire Borderlands universe. She’s an off-the-rocker orphan who also happens to be the most dangerous 13-year-old in the universe. So it’s only fitting that, if a game of Dungeons and Dragons were to break out in the vault hunter HQ, Tina would be the Dungeon Master. As a result of this fantastic premise, Tina is able to create a fluid world that changes at her whim but also has some of pop culture’s favorite fantasy references hardwired into it. Beyond borrowing tropes from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones in a way that only Gearbox can pull off, Tina’s DLC is easily the longest add-on to BL2 so far, full of never-before-seen enemies, major badass bosses, new ways to spend Eridium, and an assload of loot that you’re sure to be lusting over. So polish up that horned helmet, because this game of Bunkers and Badasses isn’t gonna play itself. Ready-Made Press Blurb: “Tiny Tina is our number one, favorite teenage murderer in the whole wide world.”

Fun Fact: Gearbox didn’t intend for Tiny Tina’s DLC to become so huge, but they pursued all their good ideas and the add-on kept growing, concluding in more detail and more gameplay than they’d ever anticipated. So if you see people like Mr. Torgue making appearances, know that it was Gearbox’s love of the game that put him there.

Who It’s For: If you don’t have an irrational love for Tiny Tina, you haven’t played Borderlands 2. If you haven’t played Borderlands 2, you should consider Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep the treasure at the end of your vault-hunting rainbow. Play this. Now.
