The Great Escape

As far as guy movies go, The Great Escape is an undisputed classic. As one that screams out for a video game adaptation, however, it’s down at the bottom of the list (we’re jonesing for Caddyshack: World Tour). Still, the promise of inhabiting the virtual coolness of Steve McQueen was enough for us to commit ourselves to this WWII-themed action-adventure outing. Unfortunately, hiding behind oil drums and hacksawing prison bars isn’t the kind of “fun” your Xbox or PS2 controller is used to. The drab pacing isn’t helped by clunky controls and muddy graphics. Steve may have made the leap over the fence in the movie, but if this is the best he can manage on the outside, we’re turning him in.
