The Mummy

A game featuring the scanned face of Brendan Fraser? We…are…so…scared. Actually this title, based on the special-effects-laden 1999 blockbuster, is about as frightening as a special Halloween episode of Felicity. You control fortune hunter Rick O’Connell as he plunders Egyptian tombs, racking up sparkly loot, dodging flesh-eating scarabs, ferreting out clues to the next level, and—oh, yeah—decimating an army of moldering undead guards intent on keeping their pyramid scheme intact. While the graphics aren’t as eye-popping as the stuff in the movie (the monotonous sandstone backgrounds are right out of Tomb Raider), cool music and solid game play make for a fun, if kiddie-friendly, ride. So, it’s nothing worth writing home to Mummy about.
