Only the craftiest Tony Hawk 3 players were able to find that game’s “unofficial” online mode (a hidden option for those adept enough to hook up a USB without benefit of Sony’s not-yet-released adapter); Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, on the other hand, flaunts its online playability. And if trying to one-up some dude from Japan isn’t your thing, there’s still enough here to make the X Games look like an elementary school playground. Freed from time constraints, you now accomplish level-specific goals—like outmaneuvering skater-busting cops—to advance while on the lookout for secret minigames: Land on a tennis court and trade volleys using your board. Balls, of course, not included.
