In principle, PC-to-console game conversions are supposed to suck. Apparently Infogrames hasn’t gotten the message, because this edition of the smash-hit guns-and-gore shooter Unreal Tournament butchers the competition. Whereas the PlayStation 2 edition featured bitchy frame rates and hamstrung visuals, its new Dreamcast cousin runs like Carl Lewis on a Jolt Cola binge. Now up to eight bloodthirsty nerds can frag faceless friends around the globe with the help of SegaNet online support. Playing with the Dreamcast keyboard and mouse is most rewarding, though the standard game pad controls are also surprisingly workable. Apart from some cramped environments, the immaculately reincarnated Unreal Tournament is a stone-cold killer.
