The closest we’ll get to interactive anime, this game couldn’t be more Japanese if it featured a ninja penguin schoolgirl getting bukkaked. If giant mechs get your turbo boosters humming, 2nd Runner offers more thrills and faster pacing than any competitor—think Rock ’Em, Sock ’Em Robots. Piloting the “Jehuty,” players flit from one scenario (try the frozen wastelands!) to the next, crushing swarms of futuristic enemies along the way. Whether impaling badass bosses with metal rods or atomizing rinky-dink droids with a laser barrage, it’ll satisfy any man’s giant-robo jones. Bonus: Feast your eyes on the gorgeous animated CG filler between battles. Makes those robot-dog toys look almost…tame.
