Beginning with cover spots on such magazines as Glamour, Seventeen, Ebony and Essence, this Detroit-born beauty went on to become only the second African-American woman to win the Miss USA crown at age 19; she brought her smoldering presence to TV with roles on The Parent ’Hood and In The House (playing LL Cool J’s love interest — think he was in on the casting?) and even got men to sit through a chick flick with her appearance in Waiting to Exhale; also appeared as lead role in the independent erotic thriller Trois.
