Tell us a little bit about your role In The Blood.
[I play] Nurse Leta. At first you think she’s just this nurse working at a hospital doing her thing, and then later on in the film you see a flashback and you find out she's part of a conspiracy.

When did you start acting and what drew you to it?
Well I got my degree from UCLA for physiological science. Totally not the same thing. I was always drawn to it but I didn’t know how to get into acting because I was never in that world. I started working for a production company and learned the ins-and-outs before getting onto the other side of the camera, which was kind of fun.

You have a few projects coming up later this year that sound pretty badass - tell us about them.
Free Ride is like ‘70s and based on a true story - very female-driven, which is kind of rare. Then I did Sorority Party Massacre, which is horror comedy. In Water & Power I play an assistant DA. And then, you know, In The Blood is action. And Inherent Vice, which I can’t say details about yet. I don’t feel I’ve been stuck to [one type of role], which is really fun for me.

What has been your favorite experience thus far in your acting career?
Probably the film that will come out later this year [Inherent Vice]. You work so hard and to be with such an amazing group of people; it’s very surreal. And it’s very humbling.

What kind of guy are you typically interested in?
He has to be ambitious, smart, and funny.

What’s your biggest turn-off?
People who are late; people who are inconsiderate. That’s my pet peeve. Just give me a call and let me know what’s up!

How do you normally spend your Saturday nights?
It depends. Either I go out and spend the night out with my friends, or just have a whole bunch of people come over and play a lot of music. I cook too, and I love it.

What’s your signature dish?
Gosh, you know, I have about 60 cookbooks. I just love trying new things and I love cooking my mom’s recipes, which people always love just because it’s like that home-food taste from Texas and Mexico. I just love cooking for people.

What’s your drink of choice?
I like red wine. And for my drink, there’s this one I really love. It’s called Strawberry Shortcake from [the restaurant] STK. It’s so good!

What do you think is the ideal first date?
I think an element of surprise. And I think there’s something about a guy just being a gentleman - opening the door for you, walking on the right side of the street. That’s the way I grew up so I think when you see that, it’s definitely a plus.
