Dropping faster than John McCain's poll numbers and the Dow Jones, gas prices have plummeted more than a dollar over the past month. A dollar! According to the Lundberg survey, which polls gas stations around the country, prices stand at an average of $2.78, as of Friday, and prices could very well drop even further, according to experts. Amazing—at least for those who didn't opt-in for Chrysler's "Let's Refuel America!" promotion a few months ago. Instead of petty things like cash back and a low APR, consumers were given the totally rewarding option of locking in gas prices at $2.99 for three years. Somewhere, The Simpsons' Nelson is laughing. Oh, right here (apparently in France):
