This is moot... maybe.

File this under "why stuff on the Internet doesn't matter": Christopher Poole—better known as moot, the creator of 4chan.org—has been voted the most influential person of the year in TIME's third annual Internet poll. Receiving nearly 17 million votes—surprisingly second to boxing champ Manny Pacquiao's 20+ million votes—moot garnered the highest influence rating, 90 out of 100, than any of the other candidates. In fact, it wasn't even close—No. 2 on the list was Anwar Ibrahim, the former deputy prime minister of Malaysia at a rating of 47. moot's 4chan site is a throwback to bulletin boards from the olden days of the Internets, but with a much cleaner, simpler interface and it has helped proliferate such phenomena as Lolcats, Rickrolling, and Sarah Palin's e-mails.

But, don't go out and splurge on those "I <3 4chan" t-shirts just yet. moot has yet to develop a way to make money off of the site and still lives with his mom.
