Mixed at: Bar Lubitsch (323-654-1234)
Origins: This light, summery cocktail comes courtesy of Bar Lubitsch—named after the fabled 1930s Russian immigrant movie director Ernst Lubitsch—a vodka lounge on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, a neighborhood with deep Russian roots.
3 oz. potato vodka
4 slices muddled seedless cucumber
½ oz. fresh lime juice
Spoonful of sugar
Combine ingredients. Shake. Serve in a birdbath champagne glass. If you don’t have a cucumber, a lime wedge will do. If you don’t have a birdbath glass (shame!), use a martini glass.

I'm sorry, I love Gimlets and the most important ingredient in this cocktail is supposed to be Roseâ??s Sweetened Lime Juice, not fresh lime juice and sugar. Granted, in most every other instance fresh lime juice is preferred, but in a Gimlet it should be Roseâ??s. It is the reason the drink exists in the first place. We all know gin is the original liquor for this cocktail, but Iâ??m not going to deny a vodka drinker their favorite vice. I do think it is funny this recipe states if you donâ??t have any cucumber, then a lime wedge will do. That makes it a straight vodka Gimlet then. For me, there is no need to muddle anything. Just shake two ounces of Hendrickâ??s Gin (which is made with cucumbers) and 1 ounce of Roseâ??s with ice and strain into your cocktail glass with your cucumber garnish (the one in the photo looks very nice), but rub the sliced cucumber around the inside of the glass to release some of the flavor before pouring. It is very goodâ?¦
