If there's one thing Hollywood can never get enough of, it's the mismatched-buddy action flick. (Well, that and cocaine.) Although Bruce Willis and Mos Def try to breathe new life into the genre, the 24-style real-time gimmick plays the most refreshing role in 16 Blocks. But if you're not drawn in by the pace, nothing on this bare-bones DVD is going to raise your pulse rate. The alternate ending is just another plot twist, and a handful of deleted scenes with optional commentary are the only other special features.
