Davey Stone (voiced by Adam Sandler) is the town drunk court-ordered to live with local codger Whitey (also Sandler) and his sister Eleanor (Sandler again) in this Grinch rip-off. Sandler doesn’t mess with his can’t-miss formula of saying outlandish things in even more outlandish—and high-pitched!—voices until he beats a joke well beyond death. Plenty of off-color zingers get tossed into the holiday cheer, but before the pre-teen in you gets to laughing, a Producers-style song-and-dance number interrupts. And for all the damn commotion over the, ahem, much anticipated “Hanukah Song, Part 3,” it doesn’t even play until the credits roll. Keep your fingers crossed Sandler doesn’t try to make a Thanksgiving movie modeled around “Turkey-lurkey-doo and a turkey-gobble gockey.”
