Theres such a thing as criterialike, you dont judge Gladiator and Caddyshack by the same set of standards, even though both are great movies. So, based solely on what you expect from the buddy action-comedy genre, All About the Benjamins
still isnt all that great. But its not terrible, either.
Although not original in the slightest (it steals one of its major plot points from A Fish Called Wanda and Out of Sight), it breezes along and remains pretty consistently mediocre. Down-on-his-luck bounty hunter Bucum (OShea Jackson), who wants nothing more than to open his own P.I. firm, gets caught up in a diamond heist while tracking down fugitive con man Reggie (Mike Epps). The two bicker and slowly become friends as paper-thin villains try to kill them. Its all by the book, but its something youll probably watch a few times as soon as it becomes part of TBS continuous loop (and trust us, it will). Epps is like a slightly less annoying Martin Lawrence, and Jackson plays the heavy better than the average guy he plays in the Friday movies. There are some funny bits and standard action moments (including a strange torture scene that resembles the bathroom/chainsaw sequence in Scarfaceagain, nothing original here), but dont worry if you miss this one. Youve basically already seen it.
