Odds are you missed this comic-book movie last summer, since it didn’t feature radioactive thyroid cases smashing tanks. Don’t miss it again. Starring underrated Paul Giamatti as permanently pissed-off underground comic writer Harvey Pekar, it features both re-created scenes from Pekar’s life and Pekar himself commenting on the goings-on. It’s gloomy and cringe-inducingly funny—kinda like your life. Not sold? Time magazine once declared Pekar the Lenny Bruce of comic books and the extras include the “My Movie Year” comic by Pekar, a neat tie-in showcasing his unique style.
