Christopher Walken gives an inspired performance as the hippie film director who edits his movies in the Unabomber’s old shack. His tap dancing and general creepiness make him a walking freak show worth a 25-cent peep, but not $10. And, unfortunately, he’s only in the movie for 10 minutes. The rest of the time is filled with a lot of groan-inducing romantic pap, a scene in which a dog greedily licks Billy Crystal’s crotch, and Julia Roberts…in a fat suit. If you have the sense God gave a prairie dog, you’ll scurry away from the theater and burrow into a hole before your female mate can find you and drag you to this one.
