It may be the third time Apocalypse Now has been released on DVD, but this tour of duty offers up the original 1979 version, the longer and more surreal 2001 Redux, and tons of hypnotic extras. Since Francis Ford Coppola shot over 1.5 million feet of film for his epic vision of Vietnam, and almost gave his life while making it, we can't blame him for being unable to let it go. But, this is his final warning: If a "Super-Size-Fatter-Than-Brando" version comes out next year, we're gonna be pissed. And we'll also probably recommend that too if they're smart enough to include the currently unavailable behind-the-scenes documentary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, which is almost better than the actual movie.
