DVDs—TV

User Pick: South Park: The Complete Tenth Season
As long as they keep making seasons, they'll keep showing up on our best lists. Trey and Matt outdo themselves every year; and watching their work on DVD, without the beeps and censorship, is really the only way to play. Read our review!

1. Friday Night Lights: The First Season
Now that NBC has given iTunes the boot (or was it the other way around?), you'll have to buy the discs if you want to catch up on one of the best prime-time dramas around. As an added bonus, almost every girl on the show is stunningly hot. Read our review!

2. Not Just the Best of the Larry Sanders Show
HBO's reputation for great TV started well before The Sopranos ever hit the marinara-stained drawing board. The Larry Sanders Show has really stood the test of time. There are more laughs in one disc of this set than in everything Jay Leno has ever said. Read our review!

3. Planet Earth: The Complete Series (Blu-Ray)
We were a little worried this might be too educational for our tastes, but once we were introduced to the amazing, and often terrifying, animals that live on this planet we were hooked. This one is also a solid purchase if you have an expensive TV and want to show it off. Read our review!

4. Deadwood: The Complete Third Season
Another entry from our obscenity-friendly pals at HBO. The third and final season of Deadwood makes us wish we were born in the wild West. Since we weren't, we have to experience the gunfights, opium binges, and sassy whores through our TVs. But hey, no saddle sores! Read our review!

5. The X-Files: The Ultimate Collection
X-Files fans are always looking for a reason to spend time in the dark. And this 61-disc set would be the perfect companion for a week alone with a case full of Hot Pockets. Just be careful you don't watch them all in a row and end up wearing a tin foil hat. Read our review!

6. Seinfeld: The Complete Series
You've probably seen every episode a thousand times in reruns, but there are moments from this show that just never get old. The huge box even comes with a coffee-table book that you'll think is cool when you open it, then never look at it again.

7. Twin Peaks: Definitive Gold Box Edition
If you've only seen Twin Peaks once, you might as well have never seen it at all. David Lynch's classic has more than enough nuance and just plain confusing crap to warrant many repeat viewings. Once you've mastered it, strike up a conversation with that creepy guy at the video store. Read our review!

One of the most underrated shows around is about to go into its fifth season, but before you get to the new stuff, you really should catch up on the past seasons. You'll wonder why you ever wasted your time with Law & Order reruns.

9. Miami Vice: The Complete Series
Whether you're a genuine fan or just into it for its kitschy '80s charm, you'll be impressed by the sheer completeness of this pastel-colored collection. It even has all of the original music, which will either make you really excited or suicidal. Read our review!

10. MacGyver: The Complete Series
We could think of three random household items and make a joke about Mac's ability to turn them into a proton accelerator, but it's been done. So we'll just tell you that this collection is packed full of every episode. Oh, and you could use it as a doorstop if you wanted. Hooray for multitasking! Read our review!
