An older black man (Sam Jackson) chains a half-naked white nymphomaniac he found left for dead on the road (Christina Ricci) to his radiator to cure her of her wickedness. Of all the ways we thought this movie would go, Black Snake Moan takes a completely unpredictable approach and scores big on originality. Director Craig Brewer tries to do the same for blues music as he did for hip-hop in his amazing debut, Hustle & Flow. The music angle felt a bit tacked on—maybe it's because Jackson sings just like he shouts—but there's so much else going on that we didn't mind one bit. Even if you're not a fan of the quirky plot, at least you get to watch Ricci's sexy little bod traipse around in panties and a barely concealing half-shirt for 90 percent of the movie. If that doesn't bump this to the top of your Netflix queue, then you're on the wrong site, buddy.
