It’s happened to the best of us: You’re sitting at home next to an empty bottle of Night Train when you begin dialing up former A/V club colleagues looking for lovin’. In Booty Call, Jamie Foxx and Tommy Davidson fumble through the try-to-get-laid comedy formula that’s always been good for a few harmless laughs. Unfortunately for the DVD, “Bootiest Edition” doesn’t mean what we thought it did. (And it definitely doesn’t mean quality supplemental materials included.) The lone substantial featurette, “Smooth Operator: The Art of the Booty Call,” includes interviews with drunk bar patrons waxing on their greatest—and wholly unbelievable—booty call moments along with unknown stand-ups adding their two rehearsed cents. The only other extra is the commentary track provided by three filmmakers who haven’t worked since, which is about as gratifying as your last attempted late night call to your Canadian girlfriend.
