Did you like the intercultural flavor of Rush Hour, but not all the funny? Just in time for Rush Hour 2 is a more serious alternative: Brother. What Brother lacks in kung fu, laughs, and big-name movie stars (though Beat Takeshi is regarded as Japans best actor), it makes up for with guns, blood, and ritual mutilation. The movie is subtitled, submerged in the world of the yakuza, and subdued in tonebut its also set in L.A., features an international cast (including American Omar Epps), and as stylized and provoking as the best of the Japanese genre from which it hails.
