This three-disc set is the perfect chance for all those who predicted an early grave for this bizarre series to go back and catch up on all they missed: its subtle transition from guilty pleasure to legitimate show. Unfortunately, thats the most the set accomplishes. For the hardcore faithful, there isnt all that much to
wait for it
sink your teeth into.
While series creator Joss Whedon does give an insightful and funny commentary to the first two episodes, and his special introductions help put things in perspective, whats sorely lacking is anything about the Scoobies themselves. Where are their interviews? Behind-the-scenes clips? Audition tapes? The lost Buffy and Cordelia shower scene? (Sorry.) If something along these lines had been included, this set would be a must-have rather than simply a decent collection. We can only hope that Season Two loads up on the goodies.
