The Pitch: Three high school friends get telekinetic abilities from a mysterious source, which allows them to do fun tricks, then more powerful tricks, then shit gets real!

What It Really Is: A mix of Cloverfield (found footage), Hancock (super powers in everyday settings), and teen angst (look out your window...those kids on your lawn) all rolled into an awesome movie. The effects are great, the camera work makes sense and doesn’t feel like a gimmick, the cast isn’t annoying and it has lots of unexpected twists. It’s as if the filmmakers actually put some thought into it.

Does Blu-ray Make a Difference? Sure. Most of the footage is purposefully grainy and low quality to tell the story. Once things amp up and the effects kick in, the audio and video is like a swift punch in the asshole. But in a good way.

Special Features: Unrated director's cut, deleted scene (“Matt and Casey in Kitchen”), pre-viz, camera test, theatrical trailer, Chronicle soundtrack info, DVD and digital copy of the film
