This is one of those movies that are perfect on DVD. It's got a great cast (Denzel Washington, Val Kilmer, superhottie Paula Patton), a great director (Tony Scott: Man on Fire, Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide), and a high-concept story. In the theater, we'd be throwing batteries at the screen. At home, it's fun and exciting. Washington is an ATF agent investigating a ferry explosion in New Orleans. Then he's approached by a new division of the FBI with a machine that can see into the past. Yep, it's got bits of Terminator, Back to the Future, Frequency, Memento, and Event Horizon all wrapped up in a glossy CSI-like mega-episode. The main problem: They try way too hard to explain how it all works. They should have just said they found it, 'cause in a movie like this we don't care about time-folding theories or wormholes. (Plus, the word "wormhole" always makes us giggle.) Just suspend your disbelief, act like all this crazy crap could happen, and you'll have a blast.
