Maybe Bowfinger was onto something after all. First there were the Professor and Dolittle sequels. Then Pluto Nash. Now Daddy Day Care. Is Eddie Murphy really signing on for these projects or is somebody craftily filming him from the bushes and inserting him into the final edits? Actually, Daddy Day Care isn’t that bad, but it’s a children’s movie. (Didn’t Eddie use to make fun of people like this?) For all of the schmaltz and sap, there’s enough kids kicking men in the crotch and animals running amok to make your little brother, cousin, or illegitimate son giggle. But aside from an occasional out-of-place Star Trek reference from Steve Zahn’s goofball character, this movie, much like Hooters, guns, and the Wu-Tang, is for the children.
