Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence aren't the only ones trying to corner the market on cross-dressing grandma-mas. Newcomer Tyler Perry stars in Diary of a Mad Black Woman, the movie version of his successful play about a gun-toting, smack-talking, boob-sagging granny who spits out one-liners like Mr. Doubtfire in da hood. But don't be fooled by the promos, Diary isn't a slapstick comedy filled with jokes about farts and erectile dysfunction. (Much to our dismay.) It's really a poignant romantic drama (chick flick alert!) about an Atlanta-based trophy wife (Manchurian Candidate's Kimberly Elise) who must put her life back together after her husband takes off with his mistress. Though Perry manages to deliver a few low-brow laughs, Elise turns out to be the only star of the movie, with the rest of Diary leaving you about as fulfilled as a Nutty Professor marathon.
