DVD Review: The Dark Knight [Blu-Ray]

The Skinny: If you haven't seen this yet, congratulations—your $10 is the only thing keeping it from reaching $1 billion worldwide. The Bat Phenomenon pits the brooding one against classic villains The Joker and Two-Face. The rest is history.

The Good: Thanks to director Christopher Nolan's decision to shoot several key sequences in IMAX, this is just as breathtaking (if not more) on Blu-Ray than it was in theaters. And if you're worried that the movie might not hold up under repeat viewings—it does, and then some. In fact, in many ways it gets better.

The Bad: Nolan isn't the kind of director who really relishes letting audiences "behind the curtain," so while his special features are certainly adequate, we can't help feeling like there's a ton he isn't showing us. A small price to pay for a little mystery? Sure, why not?

Best Extra: "Batman Tech." This explains in massive detail why Batman is so unendingly cool—he and his gadgets make him the superhero equivalent of James Bond.

Buy, Rent, or Ignore: You can't ignore it. You must own it.
