From the slick packaging to the animated menus to the special features to the damn movie itself, DVDs don’t get much better than the two-disc collector’s edition of Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarantino did it right by offering up a DVD that’s as complete a collector’s extravaganza as can be. We’re all agreed that the movie is one of the best, and we know Tarantino can coax performances out of less-than-stellar actors (we’re looking at you, Johnny T.), so the only question remaining is, How much more bang can Tarantino give you for your buck? Besides the cool documentaries and all the footage of Tarantino doing interviews and press, the second disc, called “Pulp Fact,” includes some amazing deleted scenes. If you happened to notice that the “director’s cut” of Pulp Fiction is no different from the theatrical release, it’s not a defect—Tarantino begs your pardon for getting it right the first time (taking a not-so-subtle swipe at the Lucases and Coppolas who rework their films into soulless poofests).
