Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

We can’t believe a theme park ride spawned an enjoyable movie, but we underestimated the power of Johnny Depp in mascara. Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley all lend their helping hands and swords to the swashbuckling action until everyone goes home guiltily pleasured. After you’ve gotten your fill of pirate’s eyes, walk the plank straight into an exhaustive set of extras that leaves no peg leg unkicked. Behind-the-scenes featurettes come in all forms, including ambles through each major stunt sequence, on-set video diaries with cast members, and an interactive history of pirates chronicling the rise of the cowboys’ of the sea. There’s also a blooper reel featuring the cast yargh-ing it up and a hokey 1968 Disneyland infomercial on the original debut of the theme park ride. Even if Disney didn’t own the syndication rights to our souls, we’d recommend this.
