The hotly anticipated third installment in the Scary Movie trilogy boasts no bare breasts, no Wayanses, and no original ideas. But the nonstop saturation bombing of slapstick parodies, scary or otherwise, backs into enough laughs to warrant a home viewing on DVD. Deleted scenes include commentary explaining how to further beat the movie’s 8 Mile,Matrix, and Signs send-ups into the ground in addition to a 15-minute alternate ending that makes the original finale seem plausible. A standard-issue “making of” earnestly interviews the cast—Jenny McCarthy must have been so excited!—but the “Making of…FOR REAL” provides a hilarious tongue-in-cheek look at behind-the-scenes cut-ups. The effects behind the axed ending and a blooper reel prolong the living room laugh track until you can hardly remember the movie was totally unnecessary in the first place.
