The Girl Next Door is your typical romantic teen comedy: awkward boy meets hot girl, awkward boy falls for hot girl, awkward boy discovers hot girl is paid to have sex in movies, awkward boy becomes a man. Since the hot girl is 24's Elisha Cuthbert, this second-rate knock-off of Risky Business is easy to digest—just don't be fooled by the unrated label. (They added a few extra minutes of strip club skin and exactly zero minutes of Cuthbert skin.) The ordinary features—director commentary, scene-specific commentary with Cuthbert and costar Emile Hirsch—are flanked by an amusing strut through the Adult Entertainment Expo in Sin City. Costar Chris Marquette hits up the Vegas convention in character and suckers scads of desperate porn-star hopefuls into a number of awkward positions (none of which even remotely resemble missionary). A gag reel catches the cast giggling through the sex scenes, deleted footage features an alternate ending, and the making-of featurette includes tips for re-creating a fake adult film convention—which might be the best thing to happen to sex education since the cucumber.
