Before Eddie Murphy was trolling Hollywood Boulevard in tight leather pants looking for cross-dressing hookers, he was prowling auditorium stages in tight leather pants as one of the funniest stand-ups in the business. Mocking everyone from whites to blacks to homosexuals to Mr. T, Raw features an Eddie Murphy with no limits. This was before superstardom and Warner Bros. contracts came along, and he started dressing up in fat suits and doing voice-overs for donkeys. Unfortunately, Raw doesn't come with extras explaining how such a crude and talented individual could sell out to the extent he has. But taking this DVD home just to rewatch his Bill Cosby and Richard Prior impersonations isn't the worst thing you could do to your DVD collection. (Buying The Adventures of Pluto Nash, on the other hand, would be.)
