The biggest movie of 2004 (that didnt involve the Bush administration or Jesus getting a biblical ass-whooping), Spider-Man 2 also bucked the usual sequel trend by not sucking donkey cockin fact, it even managed to improve on the original. Maybe it was because Alfred Molinas sinister Doc Ock was a much better villain than Willem Dafoes Green Power Ranger, or maybe it was the improved special effects, or maybe it was director Sam Raimis occasional doses of pure comedy. Whatever the reason, SM2 was the most fun we had in theaters this summer. Naturally, the DVD will give us ample opportunity to rewatch all the cool stuff we missed the first time. (Curse you, blinking!) The two-disc set comes packed with multiangle scene sequences, commentaries (with Raimi and Tobey Maguire), blooper reels, music videos, and featurettes on everything from the stunts to the sound effects. Wed ask for a Bruce Campbell cameo retrospective, but that would be just plain greedy.
