Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

For the love of scotch! Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Christina Applegate exchange sex jokes; rumble with Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Tim Robbins; and fall into bear habitats. It’s the funniest comedy of 2004, and not just because of every single word that comes out of Steve Carell’s hilarious mouth. As you may or may not have heard, Ferrell’s swinging movie epic about San Diego news anchormen of the ’70s was largely improvised. Tons of material remained on the cutting-room floor…so much, in fact, that a separate feature-length bonus movie, called Wake Up, Ron Burgundy, has been made out of all the snippets and is included on the unrated two-DVD set. And there’s more: Ron Burgundy on the MTV Video Music Awards, a Ron Burgundy audition for ESPN SportsCenter, outtakes and bloopers, and a documentary, as if you had the time to cram this much Ron Burgundy information into your skull. Yes, it’s a great flick; it also may be the best extras compilation we’ve ever seen.
