In this dark, jubilantly violent adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novels, a cop with a bad heart saves a stripper, a mass murderer goes on a killing spree to avenge his lost love, and a group of hot-headed hookers takes on the Mob and the cops. (For the last time, don’t mess with the Golden Girls!) You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, and you’ll squirm, especially when Bruce Willis rips off Nick Stahl’s testicles with his bare hands. Director Robert Rodriguez is an ardent DVD freak, so the fact this release has mostly humdrum standard extras (some behind-the-scenes materials and storyboards) can only mean one thing—if you’re a Sin City superfan, you should wait for the extra-special collector’s anniversary mega-edition, coming out…someday.
