TV's first (animated) family maintains its unprecedented stride on DVD with a sixth season that features a visit to Itchy and Scratchy Land, Homer traveling through time via toaster, and Mr. Burns taking a bullet. As if owning 25 classic episodes isn't enough, the set also comes packing extras like Maggie packs heat. Watch any episode with revealing commentary tracks that mix information on production obstacles with random stories from the show's creators. For those who love their drawings, there are a host of behind-the-scenes animation featurettes, including original sketches from the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episode and a picture-in-picture feature for "Lisa's Wedding" that toggles between storyboards, animatics, and the final product. John Walsh adds authenticity to "Springfield's Most Wanted," the hilarious send-up of America's Most Wanted, while the hysterical deleted scenes reel—which allows you to splice the scenes into their corresponding episodes—proves that The Simpsons have more to offer on their cutting room floor than the rest of Fox's fall line-up.
