Jeff Goldblum goes from ugly to uglier in this classic about the dangers of teleportation directed by the master of the mind-fuck, David Cronenberg. The cleaned-up Collector's Edition makes watching Goldblum deteriorate faster than Geena Davis' career just as amusing now as it was 20 years ago. On a second disc, effects wizards will marvel at the extras, which showcase the decidedly non-CG approach the crew took to making Goldblum look like a human-sized loogie. "Fear of the Flesh" covers everything from behind the cameras, splicing current cast and crew sit-downs with extra reels, raw dailies, and tales of baboon erections. (We're not kidding.) If you still crave more footage, the deleted scenes return to the teleport podsthis time with a hideous monkey-cat hybridand also offer up a sappier alternate ending. Film tests showcase different pod models and Cronenberg screwing around in a bee costume, while the "Brundle Museum of Natural History" revisits all of the props it took to make Goldblum unrecognizable. (And, evidently, have been working ever since.)
