Discs 26 through 29 in Matt Groening's ongoing campaign to squeeze the first season of Joanie Loves Chachi off your DVD rack combine to form a candidate for the best season in Simpsons history. Most important in evaluating a Simpsons box set—aside from the mint-grade preservation of its collectible packaging—is its roster of episodes, and no season to date contains more classics quoted ad infinitum in college dorms throughout the obese world. Characters like Frank Grimes, Poochie, Hank Scorpio, and Mr. Sparkle join lines like "And heeeeere come the pretzels," "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos," and "Frankly, I would have expected better from Jimmy the Scumbag." If you need any more convincing, you may as well just throw in the episode where Mario accidentally sets fire to Joanie's term paper.
