Rescue Me doesn't air in HD, but thanks to Sony we get to watch it that way on Blu-ray. (It's ironic, 'cause other TV shows that air in HD, like 24 and Lost, are only available on DVD.) This is all well and nerdy, especially since there are still only 30 of us with a PS3 or Blu-ray player, but the format doesn't mean a thing if the show sucks. Lucky for Rescue Me, it's one of the best on TV and keeps getting better. This year Gavin's trying to keep his team together, coping with his son's death, and has more friction with his brother than ever before. It's not perfect—his widow girlfriend is hazardously annoying, and she just gets worse this season—but overall it's a raunchy, hilarious down-and-dirty look at how heroes really live. Big-ups to Denis Leary, who finally found a character that's perfect for him—a sarcastic Irish guy with a temper and a drinking problem. Like all FX shows, it's a manageable 13-episode season and pushes enough boundaries to make HBO blush.

Rescue Me: The Complete Third Season is also available on regular DVD. (Well, no duh!)
