Since we didn't watch this show when it aired, we've been dying to get our hands on this DVD set for a long time. Good thing we waited because the first few episodes are about as interesting as watching Wolverine shave. With soap opera-caliber acting, this X-men rip-off can be maddening at times. We're surprised the premise didn't get NBC sued by Marvel. Human evolution has provided some people with super abilities that are needed to save the world. One can fly, another can bend time, one can regenerate, another walks through walls, and so forth. It starts off much slower than it should, which makes the DVD much better than having to endure it week-to-week. (Are you listening Lost and 24 fans?) It definitely picks up as it goes along with bursts of action and original storylines that kept our attention. Watching it in HD showcases effects and production quality beyond any other show currently airing, Ali Larter has never looked better and Hayden Panettiere is by far one of the cutest upcomming stars on network TV. The even bigger deal on the HD DVD is the extras, featuring so much integrated content that it wouldn't be a bad move for hardcore fans to run out and buy an HD DVD player. Overall, for normal people, we're still not sold on this show enough to add it to our DVR, but we understand the hype, and it's good to see NBC branch out beyond ER and Law and Order spin-offs.

NOTE: It's also available for chumps on regular DVD. The episodes looks fine, and there are a bunch of extras, but it doesn't have the in-episode material that geeks crave.
