The Skinny: David Mamet brings his writing and directing skills to Mixed Martial Arts…with mixed results. Jujitsu instructor Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor) must choose between fighting for honor and fighting for money. Along the way, friendships are tested, people are cheated, and bones are broken. At least that's what we took from it.

The Good: The dialogue, style, and unexpected plot twists are pure Mamet; for the most part, the acting is great, especially the small part from Tim Allen (you heard right), who is up there with Steve Martin in The Spanish Prisoner (one of Mamet's best). The MMA fight scenes are quite good.

The Bad: If you're expecting a movie purely about UFC, look away because you'll find it too slow; there are a few cheesy Best of the Best/Karate Kid–type moments that are forced or just plain weird.

Best Extra: The simple Q&A with Mamet, because that guy is as funny and smart as it gets; it's also packed with a commentary featuring Mamet and UFC champ Randy Couture, behind-the-scenes, featurette on magician/actor Cyril Takayama, interview with UFC president Dana White, and video profiles of the fighters featured in the movie.
