The Skinny: Every single episode of the early-'90s animated Batman series has been gathered up, spit-shined, and packaged in an amazing collectible box set for the discerning Bat fan. Devotees praise this series—guided by the likes of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini—for featuring some of the most comic-book-faithful Bat stories (as well as unexpectedly dark, for an animated series) ever seen on TV or in movies.

The Good: You've been able to get these shows piecemeal for some time, but who doesn't love a big, honking box set? WB really put together a beauty, too, which includes a limited edition book on the design and early concept work for the series. There are also all-new featurettes and commentaries.

The Bad: At nearly 80 bucks, it's hard to justify buying a set, even one as cool as this one, during a financial crisis. But, hey, there's always Christmas!

Best Extra: The ones that focus on the voice talent (like "Voices of the Knight") stand out. While everyone is arguing over Heath Ledger vs. Jack Nicholson, can we start a write-in campaign for Mark Hamill as the best Joker? We think you'll agree after watching a few episodes…

Buy, Rent, or Ignore: If you can afford it, it really is a must-have for the dedicated Bat fan.
