The Skinny: DC Comics brings its star-spangled A-list heroine to DVD in this feature-length animated movie, on the heels of similar (and very successful) animated projects like Justice League: New Frontier and Batman: Gotham Knight.
The Good: Well, making it PG-13 was a step in the right direction. There are plenty of battles to satisfy the boys, and plenty of strong females to satisfy the girls. The animation isn't groundbreaking, but the colors pop on Blu-Ray. The movie handles Diana's origin story really well, too.
The Bad: It all depends on how much you love Wonder Woman. If you're a true-blue fan, then you'll eat this up, but if you're on the fence this won't do a lot to win you over. She's a tricky character, and if this animated movie can't quite nail the mix of mythology, superheroism, and feminist doctrine needed to make her work, what hope does a live action film have?
Best Extra: "Wonder Woman: The Daughters of Myth," because you can always count on these movies to provide some great background info for the non-comic obsessed.
Buy, Rent, or Ignore: It's a rental for anyone jonesing for a superhero movie that's not a total brodeo.
