Drugs may do terrible things for your looks, your bank account, and your sister's bank account, but they've proven time and again to work wonders for movies. Easy Rider set the standard for the ultimate road trip when Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper hit the highway on hogs stuffed with drug money to fulfill the American dream. Thirty-five years down the road, they've finally returned with a deluxe anniversary DVD. The hour-plus "Shaking the Cage" strains through doobie-tainted memories from Hopper and Fonda to figure out exactly how the movie was made despite all its on-set problems. The "Talent Files" provide filmographies for the main foursome in the flick, Hopper even sits still for a startlingly coherent commentary track that proves there's plenty worth living for after drugs. A bonus CD with select tracks from the flick and a thoroughly researched book by the British Film Institute leaves this anniversary only a complimentary acid tab short of the complete road trip.
