The Skinny: A young couple vactioning in the woods (stop us if you've heard this one before) run afoul of some local youths and before you can say, "What is it with these kids today" they find themselves in a fight for their lives.
The Good: Despite the familiar set-up, this British nasty is actually an intense and disturbing little flick, well deserving of the "Extreme" tag on the DVD. If you like things intense and disturbing (and if you are in the market for movies like Eden Lake, than that's a "yes"), this movie will absolutely satisfy. The squeamish need not apply.
The Bad: After way too many Saws and a few Hostels, the "torture porn" aspect of Eden Lake feels like a shock trend on its way out (which is good, for the most part). Even though Eden Lake is certainly well done and shouldn't be lumped together with Jigsaw's increasingly dull outings, it can't help but lose a bit by inevitable comparisons to lesser entries like Saw V or Them.
Best Extra: Sadly, this is another mark against the DVD. Nothing but a just-under-five-minute making of feature that's worthless.
Buy, Rent, or Ignore: This is a recommended rental. Horror buffs will want to own it, but the rest can get their squirm on and then return it.
