Obviously Pixar knew something we didnt when it plunged into the deep end with Albert Brooks as the whiny father of the titular fish in this watery rescue tale, especially since this great white went on to chomp through hundreds of millions at the box office. And while we took exception with Brooks neurotic, animated alter ego polluting the oceannot to mention Ellen DeGeneres getting work at allthe visuals were breathtaking (it is completely underwater, after all), something you can dive into even deeper on the DVD. Special features are split between two discs: Filmmakers World and Family Fun. Fight through Brooks main-menu narration on the filmmakers disc to wade in the animation process, a visual commentary track with deleted scenes, and design galleries profiling the characters in their infant, claymation forms. And when the grating Disney voice-overs become too much, sit the kids down in front of the virtual aquarium feature on the family disc and head out for sushi.
