The Skinny: Steve Carell stars in this obligatory old TV show made into a movie as Maxwell Smart, a bumbling spy who still manages to save the day. Sorry, was that a spoiler? If so, you're…a moron.
The Good: The movie actually isn't as bad as it could have been—Carell is in his comfort zone playing a well-intentioned doofus, and Dwayne "We're Not Still Calling Him The Rock, Are We?" Johnson still hasn't gotten the memo that ex-wrestlers aren't suppose to be adept at action and comedy.
The Bad: Saying the movie isn't as bad as it could have been isn't saying that it's good. It passes over you easily enough, but never sticks with you. The DVD will do the same.
Best Extra: Pretty standard stuff. Alternate scenes, featurettes…the usual.
Buy, Rent, or Ignore: It's a rental, but only if you want something you can zone out to.
