If it weren't for a few laughs from his sidekick, Balls of Fury star Dan Fogler, and the adorable Jessica Alba, Good Luck Chuck would have ranked up there with another of Dane Cook's movie attempts, Employee of the Month. (By the way, what's it with Cook being able to nail our hottest Jessicas? Totally unfair.) The plot is way too complex for something this stupid. Cook is Chuck, a regular guy who is cursed. His curse? Every time he screws a woman she ends up marrying the next guy she dates, leaving him lonely and loveless. When he finally meets the clumsy Alba, he does his best not to screw it up; and the high jinks ensue. It's clear the movie runs out of steam and story halfway through, and relies on quick pranks. Some work (his best friend screwing a microwaved grapefruit), and some don't (a sex montage that feature naked women…but also way too much naked Cook). It's not a completely regrettable movie, but Cook's got some work to do if he wants to make the leap from stand-up to film star. First lesson: It takes more than luck to recognize a good script, dude.
